Main place for searching data is Analytics tab where you can find Browse tab with data-tree.
You can also use separate Browse activity tab which is located under Flexi tab (since 1.31).
Viewing specific time series
The Browse tab allows you to go through the full list of databases available in Macrobond and browse the time series as they are organized there.
Selecting database view
We have three main database views:
- Country & Region - For each of the three main entry points, the structure is organized according to a different principle, for example Country and Region, which is what you’d use if want to look at a variety of data for a particular country.
- Source & Release - For finding data from a specific source, choose the Source & Release view, especially if you’re familiar with the way the source organizes its data.
- Concept & Category - If you’re looking for one indicator to compare across several countries, unemployment for example, the Concept & Category view is the place to go.
Additional data is located under:
Add-on databases - You can also access data from a specific sources directly. When you do so the data will be presented the same way that the source does.
My Data Sources / In-house data - Here you have access to all your Account in-house and Excel in-house data. This is another place, except from My series tab, where you can easily access series created by you. For more about these see Account in-house – creating & managing and Excel in-house – creating & managing.
For more information see Different database views – entry-points and how to work with them.
Shortcuts to data
If you frequently use some data you can set a Favorite on time series or Bookmark on data-tree node. For more information see Customized shortcuts to access data.
Browse activity tab feature: Overview
This feature is available only in separate Browse activity tab which is located under Flexi tab.
The Overview tab is your fast track to finding key indicators for a country. The data displayed here are drawn from a number of different databases in the application. Keep in mind that sources provide a varied offering of data, so you may not find the same indicators for every country you view.
Note that some of the panels can be expanded.
If you want to apply calculations to the data, or make changes to the chart, click on the orange A button. This will transfer the selected time series to a document in Analytics tab.
