US commercial real estate activity and Malaysia labor market data

United States
We have added the Kansas City Federal Reserve Commercial Real Estate Index (CRE Index). The index tracks commercial real estate activity in the Tenth District, a geographic area covering the states of Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Wyoming and several counties in western Missouri and northern New Mexico.
A positive reading indicates that the commercial real estate conditions are stronger than the long-term average. As the chart below indicates, conditions have worsened significantly since Q4 2022 as commercial real estate activities have been severely impacted by the rise in interest rates.
Malaysia
We have expanded our labor market coverage for Malaysia. Detailed quarterly employment statistics per sector are now available and users can access metrics such as number of jobs, roles filled, vacancies or job creation across five key sectors, and broken-down by skills.
In the chart below, we have measured each sector’s contribution to the overall year-on-year growth in job vacancies. While the manufacturing sector was severely impacted by the pandemic, it then became the main contributor to the growth in job vacancies in 2021 and 2022. The labor market and job vacancies now seem to have stabilized with a positive contribution from the construction sector being balanced with a negative contribution from the services sector.
