How to narrow the range on the axis?

You can narrow the range with your mouse, by clicking on axis and dragging marked area while still holding mouse-button. This works on all axes.
If you need more precise method or want to apply dates/values manually, click on axis and go to Presentation properties > Scale > Display range.

For Time charts' x-axis input dates in your Windows' format.

For Category charts' x-axis use positions i.e., #0, #2.

For y-axis remember that Macrobond automatically scale values. If your scale is in trillions you need to type in 15000000000000 or 1,50E+13 in E-notation.

Note that when step length is not set, the drawn range can be bigger than the specified start and end so that you get a nice step length and the first and last tick is close to the chart edge. If you want to override this completely set manually start, end and step length.

Useful little things

Charts

Selecting on chart

Sometimes it is hard to click on an element on chart. See in upper menu Chart > Select where you listed all series, Graph area (since MB ver. 1.28) and elements on it (i.e., Observation labels).

Legend's order

You can flip the order with one tick. Click on the Legend on the chart, then go to the Actions’ group. Under the Presentation properties tab > Appearance find 'Reversed order' box.

If you need to change order in any other way open Graph layout (Ctrl+L) and move series. What's at the bottom of the list is drawn at the top of other series.

Hide legend's forecast

If your series has forecast on legend there will be a second line for the color/style for forecast values. To remove it (from Legend) click on Legend area and under Presentation properties > Appearance tick 'Hide forecast'.

Reverse y-axis

Some series contain metadata that they are best presented using a reversed value axis. By default series are set to 'Reverse: Auto' to take that metadata into consideration.

Changing font

If you want to change font for all text on chart the easiest way is to create a Style sheet and apply it.

  1. Go to Style sheet tab, open new with + sign.
  2. Under Presentation properties > Appearance > Default font family select font.
  3. If you need, change fonts for Title and subtitle.
  4. Save style sheet.
  5. Go back to your chart, from under Style sheet > Select chart style sheet select that style sheet.

Data

Selecting in data-tree

Depending on data set nodes in data tree can have tabs, structured levels or flat view.

You can pick series with Ctrl or Shift keys. Since MB version 1.28 there is an option of selecting all/by level. Right-click on series and you will see options

  • Select all - will mark all series in node
  • Select this level - will mark all series from that particular level. Note it also works on levels which 'All levels' slide does not catch.

Replacing series

If you want to replace already added series with newly found in data tree, right-click on a series, select 'Replace series' - new window will open. Select to-be-replaced series. Press OK.

Note we also have a Change region functionality (works on selected data sets) which let you switch entire document to another country.

Analyses/Analysis tree

Deleting entire node

Since version 1.28 there is 'Delete with children' option available which allows to delete from a point with everything underneath. Use Ctrl+Z keys if you want to undo this.

How to recover deleted file?

If you delete file from your Personal/Department/Company account it will still be available in the Recently deleted folder in the account from where the document was deleted. From there you can Copy/Paste previously deleted file to 'normal' folders. Files will stay in this folder for 365 days*.

How formula with dot works?

From Macrobond formula language building blocks you can create more complicated formulas. They are called 'user defined formulas' and have a dot at the beginning. To see the elements of the formula select Edit from the main menu at the top of the application and click 'User defined functions.' In new window navigate to the right department (note that such formula can exist only in document) and find formula.
If you want to edit formula for another series, you need to replace all series inside user defined formula as well:
