United Kingdom
On the 22nd May, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced that general elections will be held on 4th July. Voting intentions, sourced from YouGov, are now available in our platform.
The Labour party has been leading the political landscape in terms of voting intentions since January 2022, and even though they faced a drop after Rishi Sunak’s announcement – mainly in favor of the Liberal Democrats and Reform UK – they are expected to take over Downing Street from the Conservative party.
Turkey
We’ve added a high-frequency dataset from the Turkish central bank, tracking consumers usage of their debit and credit cards, per spending types.
In overall, the use of debit and credit cards has exploded since 2022 as inflation was increasing exponentially. As the chart highlights, more and more households have to rely on credit cards to afford basic purchases such as food, car petrol, or spending in markets and shopping centers.
With credit cards lending surging, the next potential risk for the Turkish economy might sit on its domestic banks if credit conditions tighten further or economic growth slow, as households might not be able to repay their credit card debts.
Kyrgyzstan
We’ve been complementing our data coverage for public finances, with the addition of State budget revenues & expenditures details.
In the chart below, we chose to focus on the sources of financing the budget, domestic or external, and for which additional breakdowns are also available. In years of strong deficits, such as 2016, 2017, or 2020, Kyrgyzstan needs to rely on external sources to finance its deficit. However, the country has been running budget surpluses since 2020
